Pleasant and private suburb that’s great for families.

Welcome to Bethesda

Pleasant and private suburb that’s great for families.

Located conveniently just outside of Washington, D.C., Bethesda is a bustling Maryland suburb with lots to offer residents. This thriving business hub is packed with corporate headquarters and features wide, walkable streets, bringing the convenience of city living to a comfortable residential area.

Originally a tiny 19th-century village that featured only a blacksmith shop, a school, and several homes, Bethesda rapidly developed at the turn of the century. Former farmland was built up into convenient housing, especially after the government’s post-World War II expansion. Today, Bethesda is known as a central commuter hub, perfect for people who want to own a home close to the action of Washington, D.C.

Refurbished and remodeled older homes are common in Bethesda, many within walking distance of some incredible shopping and dining opportunities. If you’re looking for something a little less suburban, there are plenty of modern luxury condo options near the downtown area. If you’re looking for a sprawling resort-style home with fabulous amenities like tennis courts, pools, and guest quarters, you can find these in the Bethesda area for roughly $3M or $4M.

What to Love

  • Excellent upscale shopping and dining options

  • Pedestrian-friendly downtown
  • Beautiful single-family homes

People & Lifestyle

Located just outside the city, Bethesda is a fantastic place to raise a family. Homes are much larger here and tend to be situated on more substantial acreage than you’d find closer to the city. The schools are fantastic, and the entire area provides a sense of peace and quiet.

Bethesda residents are health-conscious, often choosing to buy a home in this area for its opportunities for outdoor recreation. There’s plenty of green space to enjoy, and residents love biking, hiking, and walking their dogs through the pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods. Thanks to the area’s prime location, it’s also popular with D.C. commuters looking to live near the city but away from the urban sprawl.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The upscale suburb of Bethesda offers some excellent opportunities for high-end shopping and dining; in fact, plenty of D.C. residents love coming here for a day out! From trendy retailers to delicious restaurants, there’s always something fun to do.

Some incredible shopping can be found along Bethesda Row, a cobblestoned outdoor shopping plaza that’s home to plenty of your favorite stores like Apple, The North Face, and Anthropologie. Here, you can enjoy a massage or facial at The Spa at Equinox or dine at delicious spots like Five Guys, Georgetown Cupcake, Nando’s, or Sweetgreen.

Bethesda is also home to some great restaurants like Barrel and Crow or upscale Woodmont Grill, which serves delicious American fare. There’s also acclaimed Chinese eatery Q by Peter Chang, award-winning Spanish restaurant Jaleo, and deliciously elegant Passage To India.

Bethesda is full of unique opportunities to get outside and enjoy the beautiful outdoors or spend a day immersing yourself in the arts.

Check out a show at the nearby Round House Theatre or Glen Echo Park, or spend an evening hanging out with friends at the Lucky Strike bowling alley. There are a variety of fun community events held throughout the year, which are great opportunities to meet your neighbors and make new friends.
